Boom Crash Opera - The Best Thing (1989)
Here's a genuine Melbourne rock band BOOM CRASH OPERA great guys, great tracks. They employed me to design and build their Fabulous Beast tour sets in 1993, a fun 6 months, and they employed BC/Cam of NAM (the rockfathers of Melbourne Shuffle) in their show. They also influenced Natalie Imbruglia / Torn when she started out on her music career in the 1990's, I know this because she sought my advice when she was working at Neighbours (TV soap) BC/Cam introduced us while I was working on the finishing touches to the set in the pic below. And I said these are the guys (BCO) who can show you how it's done. And a couple of BCO members recorded with Nat ( almost from Melbourne 😉 , but certainly a part of the Melbourne Underground and a great talent) on her début album selling 7 mil internationally.
Garry Shepherd 1993. TV set designed for Boom Crash Opera TAKE 40 Australia at Ch10 TV Melbourne. Finishing touches among the TV soap Neighbours Highschool sets.
The sets in the TV production
BCO 1993. That's BC- Cam from NAM getting his head checked out for cuts. BC did a live set during the show.
Here's BC and NAM the following year 1994 at the Espy Hotel (StKilda) Melbourne
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn. Live MTV (1997)
So here's a great track and my vote for greatest Melbourne (and Australian) rock band
BOOM CRASH OPERA - The Best Thing (1989)
BOOM CRASH OPERA - The Best Thing (1989) Lyrics
I put my spacesuit on
And count back ten to one
The gravitation pull gets stronger
My skin it pulls away
My brains are on aire planes
The weightless feeling here is bliss
This is the best thing that has ever happened to me
These are the colours that I've always wanted to see
And although I've never said it before
I love you, I need you, I need it, I love you
Now I'm embracing you
From the highest altitudes
Through telescopes, our friends they watch us
These heights are dangerous
From here I can see why
Our astronauts retire early
This is the best thing that has ever happened to me
These are the colours that I've always wanted to see
And although I've never said it before
I love you, I need you, I need it, I love you
This is the best thing!
This is the best thing that has ever happened to me
This is the best thing
These are the colours that I've always wanted to see
This is the best thing
And although I've never said it before
I love you, I need you, I need it, I love you

BOOM CRASH OPERA - Dancing In The Storm (1990)
BOOM CRASH OPERA - Dancing In The Storm (1990) Lyrics
Lying in the dark I know you are awake
I will not give in, I will not give in
Pulling faces and admitting not a thing
I will not give in, I will not give in
Lightning flash and everything is sharp and clear
I can see it all, I can see it all
And as the thunder roars, we're raising up a storm
We can shout it down, we can shout it down
Gone are the days of complacency
Gone are the nights of indifference
CHORUS
Here we go, here we go for one more turn
We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth
We can spin, We can spin and not fall down
Hold on tight, we can both become unwound
You and I are going out
And we're dancing in the storm
Honestly my foot is always in my mouth
Still the words come out, the words come out
Not the truth but I have nothing to confess
Just a hint of doubt, just a hint of doubt
Gone are the days of the sideways step
Gone are the nights with no partner
Here we go, here we go for one more turn
We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth
We can spin, We can spin and not fall down
Hold on tight, we can both become unwound
You and I are going out
And we're dancing in the storm
In the storm
In the storm
In the storm (Dancing)
In the storm
Gone are the days of complacency
Gone are the nights with no partner
Gone is the way that we used to be
Now the corner is turned, heaven knows we've learned
Here we go, here we go for one more turn
We can shake, we can shake the trees and earth
We can spin, We can spin and not fall down
Hold on tight, we can both become unwound
You and I are going out
And we're dancing in the storm

Re: great shuffling songs!!
Dear MSO Forum
We won!
For weeks we have been asking whether the Internet Radio Fairness Act and its 85 percent artist pay cut is dead or alive. There were tantalizing hints in this November 13th posting in Forbes Tech, which carried the scoop that Pandora “has shifted focus away from the bill.”
Now, we have a final answer from Glenn Peoples at Billboard – Pandora is standing down! Mr. Peoples reports: “Pandora has given up its efforts to seek legislation that would help reduce the royalties paid to rights holders, a source knowledgeable with the decision tells Billboard.”
It is, as the story indicates, a historic moment for music creators. Our Coalition of labels, managers, artists, unions and trade groups like SoundExchange and RIAA harmonized on social media and traditional media, banding together in perfect pitch to get our message out.
And our Coalition work wouldn’t have been possible without you. You blogged, tweeted, posted on Facebook, and spread the word through email newsletters that music creators’ pockets were being picked and that we would stand tall for fair pay for airplay. You made the difference by working in unison.
The digital music landscape presents innumerable opportunities for music creators, but it also presents pitfalls. We unquestionably want digital services to succeed, but not at the expense of fair pay for music creators. And we want to end, once and for all, AM/FM radio’s sole, special interest exemption from paying performance royalties. It is unfair and unreasonable to music creators and digital services. We should make common cause.
And the next time Wall Street companies try to rip off music creators, we stand with you – ready to fight back.
In this season of thanks, I thank you for all that you did to make this happen.
With gratitude,
Ted Kalo
Executive Director

Electric Avenue - Eddy Grant (1982)
LYRICS
Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant.
Boy
Boy
Now in the street there is violence
And there's lots of work to be done
No place to hang out our washing
And then I can't blame all on the sun
Oh no, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Workin' so hard like a soldier
Can't afford a thing on TV
Deep in my heart I am warrior
Can't get food for the kids
Good God, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh no
Oh no
Oh no
Oh no
Oh Lord, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Who is to blame in one country?
Never can get to the one
Dealin' in multiplication
And they still can't feed everyone
Oh no, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh no, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Out in the street
Out in the street
Out in the playground
In the dark side of town
Oh, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Hey, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher
( Rock it in the daytime)
(Rock in the night ...)
We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher, Electric Avenue
We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
And then we'll take it higher, Electric Avenue

Waters Of March. - Susannah McCorkle
Waters Of March - Lyrics
Ã^ pau, é pedra
Ã^ o fim do caminho
Ã^ um resto de toco
Ã^ um pouco sozinho
A stick, a stone
It's the end of the road
It's feeling alone
It's the weight of your load
It's a sliver of glass
It's life, it's the sun
It's night, it's death
It's a knife, it's a gun
A flower that blooms
A fox in the brush
A knot in the wood
The song of a thrush
The mystery of life
The steps in the hall
The sound of the wind
And the waterfall
It's the moon floating free
The curve of the slope
It's an ant, it's a bee
It's a reason for hope
And the riverbank sings
Of the waters of March
It's the promise of spring
It's the joy in your heart
Ã^ o pé, é o chão
Ã^ a marcha estradeira
Passarinho na mão
Pedra de atiradeira
Ã^ uma ave no céu
Ã^ uma ave no chão
Ã^ um regato, é uma fonte
Ã^ um pedaço de pão
Ã^ o fundo do poço
Ã^ o fim do caminho
No rosto o desgosto
Ã^ um pouco sozinho
A spear, a spike
A stake, a nail
It's a drip, it's a drop
It's the end of the tale
The dew on a leaf
In the morning light
The shot of a gun
In the dead of the night
A mile, a must
A thrust, a bump
It's the will to survive
It's a jolt, it's a jump
The blue-print of a house
A body in bed
A car stuck in the mud
It's the mud, it's the mud
A fish, a flash
A wish, a wing
It's a hawk, it's a dove
It's the promise of spring
And the riverbank sings
Of the waters of March
It's the end of despair
It's the joy in your heart
Ã^ uma cobra, é um pau
Ã^ João, é José
Ã^ um espinho na mão
Ã^ um corte no pé
São as águas de março
Fechando o verão
Ã^ a promessa de vida
No teu coração
A stick, a stone
It's the end of the road
The stump of a tree
It's a frog, it's a toad
A sigh, a breath
A walk, a run
A life. a death
A ray in the sun
And the riverbank sings
Of the waters of March
It's the promise of life

Skinny Puppy - Cleanse Fold and Manipulate (1987)
This music was used by the American government as part of its torture techniques in Guantanamo Bay. The government in it's stupidity, thought it would terrify inmates, apparently like it terrifies the government. I'd be calling for it to be turned up LOUDER, I like it, Torture for me would be listening to the Eurovision song contest.
The music is a particularly grunty form of 1980's electo we called 'industrial' and it was a very popular style at underground parties. Often sampled noise from industrial components such as banging bits of steel or using angle grinders (my favourite to do live) were in the mix and became a trademark of the style.
I remember the development of the sound in the 1980's at the time, I spent most of my life working in pro music studios, there was endless debate about 'noise' with the arrival of digital audio especially when we protested some noise was art. Hehe technicians spend a life time trying to eradicate noise and here we were glorifying it the nasty 8bit samples and massive bass and snare, often played live on painted empty 44gal oil drums at parties with a drum room. Electronic music players such as myself, longing for the dirtier nastier sound our guitar playing friends were getting as metal got much heavier and louder in the 80's. I played on a few metal albums in Australia, some did really well in the top 5 German metal charts late 1980's, big atmospheric sound scapes with fearsome southern polar winds in your face and doom, as long as it sounded like doom, they liked it Synths and especially the squeaky clean sound of the new romantics and early 1980's electro in general etc was just too sterile and preset for many in the scene. But it didn't take long to find a way to be as frighting on electronic keyboards, as on guitar in Norwegian death/black metal.

In response to the cover's source image by Gilmore: "It is an image from the original 1960's movie of Village Of The Damned. There is a little tongue-in-cheek history behind using that image as the manager for Images In Vogue, a band that C. Key used to be in before Skinny Puppy, was a former child model from England and had a role in the movie. But the face on the cover was another child actor from the movie."
The song "The Mourn" is based on the extreme horror Guinea Pig film Flower of Flesh and Blood, and when it was written, they thought it was real. Footage from the movie has since been used in their live shows. "Draining Faces" was featured on The Blair Witch Project soundtrack.

A few years ago, it was revealed that the US was using loud music as part of its torture techniques in Guantanamo Bay — and now one of the acts wants to be paid for what it sees as unauthorized use of its music. The Canadian industrial act Skinny Puppy has sent a bill for $666,000 to the US Department of Defense and is also investigating ways to bring a potential lawsuit against the government if it doesn't pay up. "We sent them an invoice for our musical services considering they had gone ahead and used our music without our knowledge and used it as an actual weapon against somebody," bandmember Cevin Key told CTV News.
The band was alerted to its music being used for torture by a former guard who was also a Skinny Puppy fan. "I think he was coming at it from the fact that he was shocked that our music was being used," said Key, "because although he was a guard at Guantanamo Bay, he also happened to be a fan of our music." Originally, the band considered designing an album cover out of an invoice to the government, but eventually decided to send an actual invoice and potentially consider a full lawsuit.
Skinny Puppy is just the latest in a long string of bands who have taken issue with the US government using their music for torture. In late 2008, Trent Reznor said that "it's difficult for me to imagine anything more profoundly insulting, demeaning and enraging than discovering music you've put your heart and soul into creating has been used for purposes of torture" after it was revealed Nine Inch Nails music was being used in Guantanamo Bay. A year later, NIN and other acts including REM, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, and others campaigned to try and have the infamous detention center closed down. The chances of Skinny Puppy having its invoice recognized are probably not good — but there's little doubt that the band's main goal it to make a political statement more so than actually getting paid

The Industrial genre Clothing style was traditional industrial wear such as work clothes, overalls, industrial gloves, welding goggles, gas masks, camo gear etc. For instance the pic of me below (2006) wearing overalls, had more to do with industrial style clothing as fashion, than just studio work gear. The distressed denim style is included with the torn bits and the red patches I sewed underneath. I'd wear these overalls and work boots to fashion events and generally be praised for my work. Don't try it unless you have a strong presence as you walk into the room, you can be mistaken for cleaning staff and told to leave, you need to go when this type of industrial gear is 'IN-fashion' , not when it's past or too soon. When is it IN fashion again ? Not yet, but once GS2 is out, then watch and wait. The artists paint spattered overalls look is peaking mainstream. So we'll need to wait until it passes then wait until the next style typically far removed from denim passes, then it'll be time again for the industrial cycle. So no excuses for being caught unprepared and missing the beginning of the next arc ! It's a weird world in fashion
This Industrial genre is where Shuffling gets it's industrial reflectors from on phats. It was the industrial fashion with reflective safety gear that triggered the fashion of putting reflectors on your pants to catch the light as you danced. Here's one of our industrial events, a bunch of artists and friends getting together for a sculpture build on vacant land outside one of the organisers kitchen windows, with fresh baked bread, chocolate mud cake and cookies etc for those working there.

MUSICAL ABILITY LINKED TO GENES - New Finland Study
I agree with this research about musical ability being related to genes, I've inherited a whole bunch, you still have to practice and develop your skills, like being born with legs and expecting to be an Olympic runner, without training for it.
I also have a larger brain size over my right ear - right brain area directly related to hearing. It's not an illness or inflammation, it's just bigger. I found that out when I had the PET (Positron Emission Topography) brain scan for my TV show TOE-Theory Of Everything mid 1990's, we gave away free brain scans for nuclear medicine research Austin Hospital Melbourne - anyone can give away free concert tickets or tracks, but you need a cyclotron for this stuff They inject radioactive isotopes into your arm and film the gamma rays decaying from your brain - while you're still awake and in my case listening to music I wrote and recorded. It's a buzz, so if my tracks sound a bit trippy, especially on GS1 from the mid 1990's, it's the gamma rays ! (Pity your eyes don't glow in the dark afterwards hehe)
"Good thing I'm an artist" I said to the Dr's when we checked the results, "or and I an artist because of the larger brain area ?" They had no definitive answer then, but Research such as that below keeps us getting closer. Bit of both I reckon,
----------------------------
Next time you hit a wrong note while singing in the shower blame it on your genes.
New research published today in the journal, Molecular Psychiatry, suggests our musical abilities may be determined by our DNA.
The research team, led by Adjunct Professor Irma Jarvela of the University of Helsinki in Finland, found musical aptitude is affected by several genes that detect and interpret sounds.
Researchers took blood samples from 767 people from 76 families, ranging in age from seven to 94 years. Some families had a strong musical tradition, boasting several professional players.
Jarvela and her colleagues unravelled the genetic code from the samples and carried out a comparison between the volunteers, looking for variants in their DNA.
They also asked the volunteers to do three musical tests. The guinea pigs were asked to distinguish between notes that had slightly different tones and durations, and to identify sequences of notes that were subtly different from each other.
Among those who performed well in these tests, the big standout was tiny but significant differences in several genes located on Chromosome 4 which help determine how we hear and perceive sound.
One variant lies on a gene called GATA2, which is important for the hair cells in the inner ear. The delicate fibres on these cells move in response to different frequencies and transmit a signal through the auditory nerve to the brain.
Another telltale variant was found in a gene called PCDH7, which plays an important role in a part of the brain called the amygdala - believed to be the driver for how we transform sounds into patterns.
Part of the answer
These are only a few of what is likely to be a bigger gene haul, but in any case DNA goes only part-way to explaining musical ability, the authors say.
According to a common theory, musical aptitude has a "primary" component - the physical ability to distinguish tones and sequences - and this is a prerequisite to a "secondary" component, the skill to play, which is dependent on one's culture and environment.
"Musical aptitude is a complex behavioural trait," Jarvela writes, stressing the team's experiments "account for only a part" of it.

Summer of Sun Quilicura CHILE 2014
Rockers & DJs + Shuffling Stage Show
A fantastic event, huge crowd twice the size and more, than last year, and the shuffling has really improved and developed heaps. Banderiano looks like a happy man, well done mate

VIKTOR STROGONOV - AFTERPARTY MIX (2014)
This is a superb mix by Viktor.

AFTERPARTY - НОВЫЙ МИКС от Виктора Строгонова ..!
ULTRA-deep-techno
)))
AFTERPARTY-new mix by Viktor Strogonov ..!
ULTRA-deep-techno All know this condition when you go in the car after a rave or already made it home ...
You don't want to sleep, as in thought only one thing-the positive memories of his emoti...ons on the dance floor.
In head noise and whistling in the ears after exposure to the powerful sound system. It can drown out the music only.
The meat is not rushing, got it at night after ... Want something relaxing to melody fascinated. And be sure to keep the rhythm of drum, as the muscles at random is still dërgaûtsâ after a night of Marathon.
))) Sometimes, when listening to new songs, I come across these works-melodic and tranquil. Before, we called it the ULTRA-deep-techno. I put them in a special folder, kotorub called "SOUL techno-techno for the soul. ))) Hope you enjoy listening to this mix after powerful raves. See More
