How To Do The Global Shuffle

People have been watching each other dance since the dawn of time. It's what we do. It's a fundamental human urge.

The whole exercise of Global Shuffle is to try and come up with a new communal Shuffle format, beyond the club and party. It doesn't replace the older formats it adds to them.

Like the oldskool parties. We already had clubs, but we wanted something fresh, so we started doing dance parties and the Shuffle was born. And today we've still got clubs, parties and the Shuffle.

So time for something new, and who knows what new thing it will create...lets find out



How to do the Global Shuffle

> 1 The core activity will be to shoot a vid of yourself and friends Shuffling, as natural as possible, phone cams ok. and post it on youtube.

We just want a happy snap vid, call out your names, tell us what country/town you're in, give us some moves and that's it. Post it as soon as possible on the day or soon after.

> 2 The editors mix is where compilations are made from the core activity footage.

Editors wanting to use core footage in a mix will need to pm the one posting the vid for permission first. Or people posting the vid can say that it's okay to use the footage in a Global Shuffle compilation - with credits please.

You might want to do a good cut of your team with footage you shot on the day as well.

You can post just one, or as many mixes as you like for 12 weeks commencing on 17 May 2008

I'm approaching the whole Global Shuffle from an artists perspective. A video artists perspective, So I'm imagining how I can cut the core activity video footage into interesting sequences.

Anybody got ideas you'd like to see in the core footage? Perhaps give some shufflers some idea's of what to do. It'd be really nice to collaborate with some people online. I'm working on a shuffle piece to show at international arts festivals
