We can try to arrange a Global Shuffle meet-up and screening somewhere in SLC. Maybe the local cinema might do a special event if there's enough interest. Have a think about it. I can arrange for the cinema to get a screener dvd to check out suitability etc

The Broadway Theater is usually where independent films that don't make it to big theaters play. Maybe they would be willing to do it? http://www.saltlakefilmsociety.org/

Hey that looks good Nikky. I'm just checking the map, there seems to be good sized carparks and public areas close by the Broadway cinema, which could work well for a meet-up.

Do you know the area ? Would they be suitable for locals for a meet-up for a few hours sometime ? Or is there a better place nearby, something within 5-10 min walking. Let me know and I'll contact the cinema to sound them out.

The Gallivan Center is an outdoor space where they hold free concerts and events, you can walk through at any time. It is closed until Spring of 2011 for Construction.

The Salt Lake Public Library is close by, and I know someone used to have a house dance night there outside on the public land.

Those are the only two spots I can think of really close that would work.

The Public Library sounds good, especially if they've had a house night there before and things went okay.

If we got a screening and meet-up say at the Library, would that be something the local news might cover ? ie, a bunch of local shufflers organising a special movie screening and meet-up

I am not sure about the news, they can go either way on the way they cover things. They used to only cover stuff like this negatively, but it's been a slow process of them coming around so maybe.

I don't know many shufflers here in Utah, but we have a lot. When I go to shows I see tons now. So I think you could get it out in the media and let people know about it a lot would come.
