Biggisan

I wasn't sure where I was supposed to put this so I figured I'd PM you I wanted to suggest you guys keep watch of Reykjavík, Iceland. This place really needs to learn about the shuffle, the only dance style around here is shaking your head and waving your hands, it's so horrible i want to cry xD

Thanks Biggisan, this thread is okay for these posts.

Yep, keeping an eye on Iceland for sure Smile

We're going to submit to the Reykjavik film fest. But we don't know much about it. Have you heard of it ?

We want to try and organise a meet-up there with the screening, so you guys can meet each other.

Well the only thing they've posted on the net is the date, it starts September 23rd and ends on October the 3rd.

That's all I could find, I was hoping to find some more info considering the official page says they started planing it immediately after the 2009 festival :/ So maybe writing them an e-mail or something would be a good idea just in case Smile

Anyways here's a link to the official web page in English Very Happy

Thanks, yeah they're probably still selecting movies for this years festival. They all tend to release the details just 6-8 weeks before the festival, so we'll keep an eye on the site updates.

Anything you hear about it from locals would be great too, such as:

Is it a good cinema to see movies ?
Does anybody actually go to it ?
Does the local media news/tv cover any of the festivals etc ?
Have you heard anything really bad about the festival, like so bad we should avoid it ?
Is there a better place or better festival in town to see movies ?

We really appreciate feedback from locals, so we can work with you to get the movie and a meet-up organised.

Well they send posters country-wide and advertise in all newspapers, I believe it attracts mostly the more artistic people or "arties", but it gets a lot of attention from the news and tv, and i believe the shuffle would definitely be included in the news. We have rather few cinemas but they are all extremely good. I have never heard anything negative about the festival.

There are some big events that could also be good for advertising the shuffle, although not movie festivals, and it would most likely have to be a stage performance in front of a bunch of drunks. Wink

that's great thanks Biggisan, the arties would be there for sure lol they never miss an opening of a film or exhibition. They're the main social meeting places for arts, usually with drinks.

In the oldskool days we'd have at least one opening a week somewhere. It's where we'd meet-up with friends and is a great way to make new friends.

We will be communicating with the festival media and PR people well before the festivals so we'll let you know if there's a media event to promote the film festival, where local shufflers can turn up.

It's most likely that the festival will be the first time many people have ever heard of the shuffle. In fact it would be the first time at a film festival for many shufflers too.

The TV and newspapers love a 'photo op' - photo opportunity. If you have 4-5 shufflers going hard, you're bound to get some pics in the news. If anyone's wearing phats, you can almost be certain they'll be in the front of any pic. Smile

Movement and color are the usual requirements for the pic, something fresh. Something other than actors in formal clothes posing on the red carpet...again
