It'll come in time, you need to get the grunt stuff settled in, it's headed the right direction. You just play with it a bit more, until you come across something that jumps out at you.

Could take a year, could take ten minutes, that's the creative part in action. You never really know when the spark will ignite.

Yeah you just keep at it. I've got stuff laying around for 10-20 years that still doesn't work. I often put the track away for weeks/months/years whatever, just to forget all about it, then listen to it again with fresh ears, it works wonders, you can see and hear stuff with new clarity.
