LMFAO? nah. not that I know of. They are musicians. Their original hit was "I'm in Miami Bitch" a funky twist of rap. I have never heard of them even knowing about shuffling. This is so great!

It makes me sad that they dont study the history about the dance before they make it public in their videos, its bad publicity if you ask me.

Its a dance. A way of expression. Everything has a history. You can't let things like that get you caught up. Its like a computer. You don't read the computer manual before you use the computer. History is important, but the fact that the dance is being embraced by LMFAO is incredible.

True, Shuffling is an underground dance style, so unless you know someone who does it, you generally don't know it exists. So spreading the news, especially done well like these guys is good.

You must remember the culture of Melbourne we have over 200 languages spoken on a daily basis, and increasing so, we welcome different cultures and allow time for each of us to get to know both our cultures.

easier said than done of course, especially with different languages, so we tend to speak bluntly and with intenional clarity, so whatever gets through the translation is as clear as possible.

But we preserve the history too. These steps are what my family brought with them 120 years ago, from ireland, scotland and norway. we don't alter them, we expand on the repetoire so each generation can contribute to the whole and ongoing story.

That way the shuffle is is kept alive through generations. When people stop doing these steps, it dies.

I guess you guys are right, I just fear that the old will be forgotten one day. I do admire this video in my own way, and I have wished for the culture to expand. My main hope is that shuffling keeps its roots in place and to keep growing.

Global Shuffle is a way of doing that. The GS1 footage is authentic and preserved in it's natural habitat, in a true documentary sense.

So now we move on to GS2 and film the next 12 months to document shuffling around the globe. Vids like this one will change a lot of things, 70,000+ views in a few days, probably from people who have never heard of or just vaguely heard of shuffling will get a dose...better than the black eyed peas superbowl that's for sure !

the scene will change, and that's where we come in, people will want to know more, learn more and we welcome people new to shuffling and we are genuinely interested in what they will bring to shuffling, it doesn't replace us, we expand and grow.

Hmm.

I just had a crazy idea. I know that they are not the first artist to feature the shuffle (Scooter had Pae and Sarah the video for J'adore Hardcore), but should MSO collectively introduce LMFAO to the Melbourne Shuffle? I'm thinking an open letter with a videos from MSO form-goers and examples of the MS that we think are particularly noteworthy. Plus the trailer for GS1.

Any thoughts?

I've actually just invited them to appear on GS2, haven't heard back from them yet.

And don't forget The Melbourne Shufflers single of 2008 the first commercial shuffle video release by new dutch label cloud9dance and burst them into the dance industry.

Millie on this forum is one of the shufflers from the clip. He flew out to Melbourne to meet me in 2009 and we toured around some of the old shuffle sites in town for GS1. He gets to shuffle on the original floor of the worlds longest running shuffle club Filter 1992-2003. And gets to meet the original club owner Carlo, who proudly proclaims the shuffle was virtually created on his floor, and he's right Smile

I should add, it's not likely that we'll hear from them, you have to go through their agent (and pay their fees), beg, offer truck loads of cash, massage their egos, then they say, 'maybe'. Then you haggle with the contract for a few months, and after all of that you hope they can repeat their shuffle success with a killer track that will sellout in 2 years time - if they are still an act then or are still interested in shuffling.

So there's lots of if's and maybe's for an uncertain outcome. But we've made the offer. If they're interested, they'll get in touch. It'd be nice to have them on board and see what they can do for the shuffle.

From what I can gather all the shufflers are the competition shufflers, independant free artists with no ongoing contracts with these guys, SO if they'd like to contact MSO, we'd be happy to discuss appearing in GS2, seeing as it's the shufflers we're really interested in seeing in a shuffle movie.

I like the clip...I like the humor. It's a nice approach of the shuffle. But I would like to see had big budget clip...with a harder approach of the shuffle..if you know what i mean......

Most kids like it, because most kids here are pretty main-stream. The shuffling is cool to them I guess? But it's not enough to make them search up some legit shuffling videos.
