Actually I did! If you go buy some cloth and some colored duct tape you can just make some big pants with some cloth and some sewing and then just duct tape the crud out of it

Dude phat pants are in the hundreds. Those homemade pants with the duct tape and the sewn cloth materials? 15 bucks of material. Have fun experimenting and if you mess up ALL your material the first time, doing it 2 or three times is still a huge savings

Try using Thimbles, little hard plastic or metal caps that fit on your finger tips when sewing. They have little dimples in the end so the needle or pins sit in them when you push. That way you can push hard through multiple layers easily without puncturing your fingers all the time.

Usually find them in craft shops, pretty common with the sewing stuff.

I'll have to put my industrial phats pics online, soon. To show you what I mean. even if it's a complete mess in the sewing, as long as everything is a complete mess, the consistency binds it all together.

Chances are that by the end of summer even the best made phats will have a tear here and there as you get used to the corners of the reflectors. They catch on everything just walking around the house

So having some basic repair skills is great. hehe your biggest challenge will be to carry a simple needle and thread repair kit with you when you go out, just in case you're exposing more than a leg if you accidently catch a corner on the way to a date

I tell ya what, that distressed denim look is high maintanance. I had to sew tears every day before I'd go out in public, and to make sure I didn't come undone at a party or something. At least carry a few safety pins. It only needs to happen once, and you won't leave home without them, like having a spare tyre for the car.
